Environmental – Natural resources are conserved because it takes less energy to make new metal out of old versus mining new ore and turning it into usable metal. In addition, greenhouse gases are far less in the recycling process than in new manufacturing. Plus it takes 40% less water to recycle metal rather than mining new ore. This also means that there will be more natural resources available for other purposes.
Energy – By recycling just one aluminum can, the average individual will conserve enough energy to light a 60 watt bulb for about four hours. Multiply that by the number of beverage cans you see in a single day and it is amazing.
Economics – More jobs are created through the metal recycling industry than by sending the scrap to a landfill or into an incinerator. Not only does it create and sustain more jobs, but the use of recycled metals helps the businesses who use them by reducing the cost of the product. In other words, the same piece of equipment will cost the owner less if it is made out of recycled metal than if it is made out of new metal.
While Manville Recycling specializes in copper and related products, we accept many types of metal scrap.
In fact, we are happy to offer you a fair price for the scrap metal that you bring to our facility. For the convenience of our customers, our plant is open for business starting at 7:30 each morning, six days a week. We don’t close until 6:00 p.m. most days. We accept your material and weigh it. Our scales are open for viewing and based on that weight, we prepare an offer based on the current rates. Our staff is trained in how to best handle different types of metal and how to best recycle it into usable products.
